Yatha Raja Tatha Praja (As the Ruler so the Ruled)

It's been said that organizations are like trees...People at top see monkeys down and people at bottom see a$$h*les up...Its true in most of the organizations. People who are at the bottom of this organizational value chain don’t get or forget the original purpose of their own organization i.e. organization’s Mission/Vision/Core Values. As long as the organization is smaller, it is evident that the organization follows its CEO’s attitude, but as soon as the organization goes into growth phase, its purpose of existence starts diluting and the organizations inculcates a mix culture. Major part of it comes from CEO and other part comprises of the attitude of its top management and employees. The organization fails to instill its CEO’s attitude or the CEO fails to indoctrinate his/her own attitude/values in the organization. And the mixed culture makes the employees feel that the top management has lost it. And they start following that same mediocre culture in their work. This in turn fuels the top management’s perception about the bottom layer i.e. there are monkeys sitting down. After all, organization absorbs its CEO's attitude.

It is very difficult for the organization to understand its CEO's attitude and thoughts. Rather I would say it is difficult to inculcate CEO’s attitude. He has not become CEO overnight or just like that. There were enormous efforts, hard work behind his success. His position is not any stroke of luck. He has earned it with shear amount of work, talent/intelligence, and risk taking ability. CEO’s are never fools. They are visionaries. But this is true in case of those organizations who sustain over a period of time through all the huddles, problems and crisis situations. Those organizations are Great organizations and I believe in the fact that CEO’s play vital role in it. His own attitude and value system defines his organization’s value system. That is why the title, ‘yatha raja tatha praja...’

Whenever you enter any organization you feel the culture of that organization. That is the reflection of CEO’s attitude. If the CEO himself doesn’t respect others then you will feel that disrespect from the employees or top management won’t respect the employees. If the CEO is loving and caring, you will be greeted wholeheartedly and warmly. Obviously the organization is CEO’s baby and will follow Dad’s/Mom’s attitude…
